Description of issue

brew update showed

Which seemed strange to me (from what version to what version?). When I approved the upgrade, I saw

Which concerns me a bit, since the commit doesn't match what was displayed AND there's a bash script executing post-install.

Do you remember having installed go with the --HEAD flag at any time? The bash script you are referring to is not during postinstall, but for some reason you go installation is building from source on your machine, instead of using Homebrew's bottles.

Sorry, yes - I meant to include this. go was installed with --HEAD. The main issue I have is with the brew update output: HEAD-6d1bcd1 -> HEAD-6d1bcd1

This is a display bug. Should be fixed by Homebrew/brew#23018.
